The decision what skin care we use is a mix of aesthetics and affordability and one that we tend not to change very often. There are really amazing South African brands to use for looking after yourself.

But let me come clean first. I started using Dr Hauschka face products in my twenties in Germany. My skin loves them. It literally glows when I apply the products, and I endorse their philosophy: They only use organic, sustainably grown produce, they don’t test on animals and they believe in nurturing your body to look after itself. So what about buying local? Fortunately Dr Hauschka has now become available here so I can still support RSA retail jobs. I buy all my other body care products from local brands. The choice has been growing consistently over the years and the variety now available is simply fabulous.
