Buying green

Is this a guide to buying green?

Yes and no. I do feature the local brands that are ‘environmentally friendly’, ie have organic ingredients or have been made without harming animals in the process. Buying local is not just about jobs but also about supporting healthy South African soil and its fauna and flora. Being a green brand is, however, not a prerequisite for listing in the book, nor are fair labour or fair supplier practices. I have tried to point out those further concerns where appropriate. Not transporting goods around the world means reducing a product’s carbon footprint, so in this way buying local is usually the greener option.
